Discovered a place on Avenue Road called Madeline's that looks perfect. Anybody else have suggestions? Also want to take in a fun place to eat. Authentic Mexican, Cuban, Indian....... We don't get to Toronto much so whole family is coming. Husband and son are going to go exploring while we are dress shopping. Thanks for any or all suggestions. For great Indian and Nepalese food try Kathmandhu: There are lots of great options for dress shopping. A personal favourite is Fashion Crimes. It is at 706 Queen St. W. Their website doesn't have much on it (http://fashioncrimes.ca/) but if you visit their Facebook or Instagram you'll get a good sense of their dresses. They are very nice, a little pricey but there are sometimes good deals. If you are driving you can drive over there or you can take the streetcar along Queen St. Somewhat near Fashion Crimes is Original. It's got lots of funky stuff, tends to be more poofy though, and great shoes as well. Make sure you go upstairs.
There is also a nice little shop near Fashion Crimes that has more vintage looking dresses. prom dresses mint greenI can't remember the name of it but if you stroll around the area you'll see it. prom dresses for low income familiesIt's on the north side of the street.used prom dresses in atlanta Dd's favourite is Poor Little Rich Girl at 2094 Yonge St.red strapless sweetheart prom dress Madeline's has a large and very nice selection of "not puffy" dresses, more sophisticated. But I find their staff really pushy. While I like Fashion Crimes, it's not what I'd call classy, but rather more "rock and roll" and lots of stretchy fabric.
You might also want to try Fredas on Bathurst and King. They have a great selection of sophisticated dresses from Nicole Miller to Jovani, David Meister etc (many of the same designers as Madeline's). Ask for Elise or Liz, who are both great with younger girls. There's also Want Boutique which has a very large selection of formal dresses, more on the youthful side. They're located a few blocks from Madeline's on Avenue Road. (website is under construction). Poor Little Rich Girl (previously mentioned) has some cute stuff, all small sizes (2,4,6). Maxi Boutique has a large selection too. http://maxiboutique.ca/ and two locations. I prefer the Yorkville location and then you can grab lunch in a Yorkville restaurant. Good luck, and have fun. I also love Fashion Crimes. If they haven't drastically changed their style ...they sell a wide variety of dresses in there. I have bought dressy skirts, coats and dresses there and my daughter has many dresses she purchased there in several different styles.
A lot of their stuff is designed and made in Canada which is so great Also don't rule out The Bay. They have some lovely dresses there. You can check out their website to get an idea. If you are looking for a good Mexican restaurant it doesn't get much better than Playa Cabana. Have had dinner there several times and always had a great experience. The place GayleR2 refers to, Want, moved last year and now they're virtually next door to Madelines. For her age, they have GREAT stuff, although it might be a little on the fluffy side for her but they do cater to a younger crowd. Fredas is also a great choice, but I do think, even with her sophisticated tastes, that it is just too old for her. If you like Madeline's lineup of formal wear, you might also like Edith's Fashions up on Finch. / The place is HUGE, every possible permutation under the sun. Please note their "appointments" issue vis a vis prom time. Down the street from Madelines & Want is Ritchie bridal wear.
