Written As it is a prom, I would say, use a light hand on your makeup. Play up on the dewiness of your skin by not overloading your face with makeup. I would have suggested a more vibrant color, like pink, red, blue, purple, even gold. ​​​​​​At any rate, don't stress out too much. If you are a medium in complexion  then you can choose any colours from the Winter palette. Deep reds or deep blues with gold sparkles or as a background for the eye lids on top of an ivory or even a light grey.

You could even use a fuchsia which would be stunning as well. If you are dark in complexion then you are a Deep which would imply that you should use the same background colour for the Winter palette but try the deep teals and and greens. If your eyes are blue then go with a deep blue.Remember for women of colour we tend to not use the seasonal designation but work with the colour of your hair and eyes and intensity of your skin colour.  Written Black clothes can emphasize dark shadows around eyes, so make sure you use a light concealer all around your eyes if you are prone to dark shadows. Black can be a harsh color to wear; I recommend light, luminous foundation (if you wear foundation) and a pale, luminous eyeshadow, such as white, pale peach, pale pink. Black clothing can drab color in the face; wear pink or peach or coral blush and a medium shade of shimmery pink, coral, or peach lipstick, rather than earth tones. Be sure to choose peach, coral, or pink with a yellow undertone, if your complexion has peach and/or golden undertones.

Your dress sounds fabulous.  I would do well with a picture.  Since I don't have one, here goes.  Do you have those false eyelashes that have gold on them?  Not heavy gold just slit gold.  Easy on the eye makeup.  Line your eyes with gold or light glitter.  I would concentrate more on your foundation.  A very creamy soft and warm look.  Heavy on your blush.  Because you have dark skin, heavy blush shows up so great at night.  This is a special occasion and there will be pictures taken.  I want your pics to come out stellar.  Don't forget to put on your moisturizer on your face, neck and arms so that you glow.  I frankly don't like glitter but on the eyelashes to make a statement I like it.  I am always looking for a way to look slightly different in a subtle way.  What is your date wearing?  If you don't have a date, what is your entourage wearing?  I am so happy that today you can go to the prom with your entourage.  In my day, no date, you were SOL.  So glad things have changed to the better.
